Reading Journal.

I am a bad girl, I've been reading breaking through but im not going to write about it today.

Yesterday I read a book of 532 pages in 5 hours, that book is called Burned by Ellen Hopkins

It was such an amaizing book that I just could not put it down, as I've felt for her other books.

So here it goes: baisically the book is about a mormon gitl named pattyn who is raised religious(duh!) Her mother is a baby-machine, her fater a complete, raging, psyco, alchoholic who abuses his wife and Pattyn and her younger sister Jackie have to protect/shelter the little ones from all this.

Now things start out with Pattyn at 17 having her first sex dream about this guy in her class, and is all omigosh is this wrong to think like this? but hoe can I control my dreams and Blah blah blah. Then it tells about her romance with books hoe she devoured them, how she could'nt stop reading, how the librarian would recommend and she would read. Then how books slowly turned her views on the world going against her resligious views and so on and so fourth. Pattyn is really confused baisically, and she is slowly getting sick of how her mother takes the blows and tells Pattyn that she needs to learn to be a good morman woman so she can find a husband, have babies, a home ect. And Pattyn is just thinking hell no, I don't want to become like you.

So one day Pattyn goes out shooting and is recalling all the times she went shooting with her dad and how he'd tell her "oh pretty good for a girl" And then as shes shooting the huy he likes and his gitlfriend and a few of their friends come riding up on their quads, and shes like oh my gosh! so she starst talking to the guys friend Derrick and he tells her shes pretty and then they start going out. After a little while her dad finds them making out and threatens to kill them so Derrick breaks up with Pattyn and shes so upset especially because she almost gave up her virgintiy and starts being insanley rebellious and is sooo mean to her mom(she deserved it!) Getys hit by her dad talks smack to the reverend(He super deserved it!) Breaks a window, breaks a nose, and gets sent to her aunts in nevada.

Her aunt is wicked awesome and totally unlike her father in every way, and lets Pattyn be herself, her real self, and pattyn sees this more as vacation rather than punishment. So theres this guy ethan and Pattyn thinks hes goregeous, turns out her aunt knows him so they start talking then they hear the cows to the muntain and he kisses her. Her aunt is totally cool with it and is all i knew there would be sparks. So one day they go for a horse ride and are about "to get it on" but a cougar tries to attack them and they fight it off.

Next Pattyns aunt tells her how she lost her one true love and how Pattyns dad came super close to killing her and her boyfriend. Pattyn and eathan get serious, and to make things really short get it on and are having a great time together. Pattyn has to go home and just has a year before shes free.

now things get deppressing. Pattyn begs ethan to come for her(theyre super super super in love) also shes pregnant, but the cops chase them they get into a car accident and ethan and the baby die. I cried so hard!!! and then the book ends with the notion that pattyn is going to kill her father, the reverand ect.


it was so depressing but totally worthwile. So sorry for the not on topic book journal thingy.
